By use of a digital computer, the solution of the diffusion equation is obtained in a model of an alveolar duct. To take the geometrical boundaries of the last generations of the bronchial tree into account, a new method of stochastic simulation in cylindrical coordinates is developed. This method can be used in the treatment of other problems of biophysics or of applied physics where the diffusion in a structurated medium is the essential phenomenon to be studied.
