✦ Synopsis

March, I949.] BOOK REVIEWS.

273 study.

Numerous examples intersperse the text material and help clarify many questions which may arise, especially with regard to order of magnitudeof the optical effects considered. Well-chosen problems appear at the end of most of the chapters with the answers to many of them included in the book. While principally an undergraduate text book, this volume can very well serve as a basic reference book for practicing engineers who occasionally meet with optical problems in equipment design.
