The comparative behaviour of the endo-and exo-norborneols and diastereomeric derivatives (acetates and benzoates) towards the NHJNH,' system was investigated. It appears that the proton affinity (PA) of the substrate relative to PA(NH,) strongly influences competition between the protonation and nuc
