โœฆ Synopsis

GAS-LIQUID mass transfer in. stirred tanks depends not only on the total-surface area of the gas bubbles, but also on the 'effectiveness' of this area This note reports the results of a photographic study designated to investigate the latter factor. The generation of small bubbks from large bubbles in the tmbuknt regionsIaround an impelkr is an extremely fast process; also, many of the bubbles formed are very small; Thus high speed cinC and still photography must be used to study these phenomena EXPERIMENTAL

Still photography

A Sinar 5.~4 camera was used with llford HP3 film, as well as Polaroid type 47 film for setting up. Lighting was either continuous or flash (Ernest Turner model 2OOJ,5 w).

Row and mixing model can provide a sound fundamental basis for the quantitative and optimum design of impeller and tank geometries. This paper describes the results of detailed numerical simulations using such a model for the flow generated by a downflow-pitched blade turbine in a fully baffled cyli
