✦ Synopsis
A simple method for gas chromatographiclmass spectrometric identification of A5*7-sterols and their acetates in complex sterol mixtures is proposed. It is based on the fact that they are more readily dehydrated (respectively deacetylated) at high temperatures, compared with A5-sterols. Sterol mixtures from four marine invertebrates were investigated by this method.
