โฆ Synopsis
An improved gas chromatographic method is described for the determination of all@-and alkoxy-substituted phenols as their 2,4-dinitiophenyl ethers. The gas chromatograpbic analysis is performed on QV-210 glass capillary or SP-2100 fused silica capillary c41Iumns using electron-capture detection. The separation of o-, mand p-substituted phenols and the isomers of dimethylphenols has been achieved. The sensitivity limit of electron-capture detection for various 2J-dinitrophenyl ethers is 0.01-0.09 ng injected and the coefficient of variation is about 5 %_
The reaction conditions for ether formation are described. The optimum pM, temperature and reaction time are 11.5, 50ยฐC and 40 min, respectively.
