Abstract

This paper illustrates the interrelation between bubbles, solids movement, and gas backmixing in large fluidized beds by presenting experimental data obtained with a 1.22 m square bed. The results demonstrate a close relationship between gas backmixing, solids movement, and bubble coalesence, with the behavior altering markedly as bubble coalescence patterns change.
