โฆ Synopsis
Gas absorption into agitated liquids accompanied by a complex system of first-order reactions involving n components is studied by use of film and surface renewal models. Equations for calculating enhancement factors are developed. Numerical examples are given for both reversible and irreversible reactions.
GAS ABSORPTION into agitated liquids accompanied by chemical reactions has been studied by many authors. As is shown in the comprehensive review by Danckwerts [l], the reactions studied included irreversible first-order, secondorder, mth-order and m, nth-order reactions, reversible first-order and m, &h-order reactions, irreversible and reversible instantaneous reactions and consecutive reactions. However, complex reaction systems comprising more than two reactions have not been systematically studied in connection with gas absorption. This work studies gas absorption accompanied by a system of first-order reactions involving ncomponents, by use of the film and surface renewal models.
