โœฆ Synopsis

Galvinoxyl is a stable paramagnetic molecule which can be easily incorporated into phospholipid vesicles (liposomes). The esr spectrum from such labeled vesicles displays striking changes in the region of the phospholipid phase transition. These changes result from an enhancement in the tumbling motion of galvinoxyl molecules as a consequence of the "loosening" of the lipid environment that occurs at the phase transition.
