## Abstract The motor disturbances occurring in Parkinson's disease have been partially attributed to a hyperactivity of γ‐aminobutyric acid (GABA) ‐ergic nigral cells largely in the substantia nigra pars reticulata (SNr) secondary to the degeneration of dopaminergic nigrostriatal neurons. However,
