In this paper, I will briefly outline the impact that fuzzy set theory has already had in the domain of computer vision, but more importantly, where I see the need and potential for new fuzzy approaches to the difficult tasks in the understanding of image data.

A theory of pointwise (quasi-) uniformities is based on fuzzy sets. Many theorems corresponding to the usual theorems in general topology are generalized on fuzzy sets. In particular, each fuzzy topological space is pointwise quasi-uniformizable. A pointwise uniformity is characterized in terms of a
