✦ Synopsis


Further studies have been carried out on the polymerization of acrylic acid in dilute aqueous solution in the presence of polymeric molecules known to interact with the polyacrylic acid. In the presence of polyethylene imine, a large increase in rate of polymerization was observed dependent on the concentration of the polyethylene imine. In the presence of polyethylene oxide, much less effect was observed; the increase in rate of polymerization was due apparently to the system becoming heterogeneous as polymerisation proceeded.
