The estimation of erosion and sediment delivery rates in tropical mountain watersheds is dicult and most of the methods widely used for estimating soil erosion over large areas have serious limitations. The 137 Cs approach has potential for quantifying soil erosion because it can provide retrospecti

Abstract
The problem considered is polynomial regression and minimization of the variance of estimated slope maximized over all points in the region of interest when the design region and region of interest are hyperspheres with a common centre. Optimal designs under the criterion are derived for the secondβorder model. Method of deriving optimal designs for the thirdβorder model is indicated and some limiting results on these designs are obtained.
