โฆ Synopsis
The unsteady-state rate of dissolution of oxygen in water was used to measure k,a in a large aerated mixing vessel. Results are compared with those previously observed in smaller, geometricatfy similar vessels, from which it is found that the problem of scale-up with equal mass-transfer rates is complex and difficult lo resolve on the laboratory scale. However, it is apparent that scale-up with geometric similarity results in a marked sacrifice in performance.
