โœฆ Synopsis

are very powerful inferencing tools in economics and engineering. As the calculation of censored quantile regressions involves minimizing a nonconvex and nondifferentiable function, global optimization techniques can be the only breakthroughs. The first implementation of a global optimization technique, namely Threshold Accepting of Winker (1998, 2007), is challenged by the Genetic Algorithm (GA) in this paper. The results show that the GA provides substantial improvements over Threshold Accepting for cases with randomly distributed censoring points.

We present a graphical measure of assessing the explanatory power of regression models with a binary response. The binary regression quantile plot and an area defined by it are used for the visual comparison and ordering of nested binary response regression models. The plot shows how well various mo

This paper examines the female wage structure focusing on changes at dierent points in the wage distribution. Newly developed quantile regression methods are used in analysing data from the March Current Population Survey. The results show that while the most signiยฎcant changes for the less skilled

## Abstract The time path of consumption from a rational addiction (RA) model contains information about an individual's tendency to be forward looking. In this paper, we use quantile regression (QR) techniques to investigate whether the tendency to be forward looking varies systematically with the
