Functional Treatment o] the Dislocation o] the Hip
Snmmary. Poor early and late results of the classical treatment of dislocation of hip joint and operation at an early date led us to adopt, in spring 1969, a basically conservative functional method. Application of the Hanausek apparates, which has been successfully employed in Czechoslavakia for 30 years, required, however, certain modifications because our children, due to a delayed di~gnosis of the dislocation, are rauch older when treatment begins. The therapeutic scheine which has proved suitable to us is described.
The results of the first 194 dislocated hip joints treated show already clearly that conservative functional therapy with ~he I-Ianausek apparatus because of the small number of re-dislocations and head necroses is superior over the conventional methods or repositioning under anaesthesia, Lorenz's plaster cast and early operation.
