✦ Synopsis

The behaviours of porous lead electrodes containing, and free from, organic expander in 5M HzS04 are compared at temperatures down to -30 "C. It is shown that the behaviour of those electrodes containing the expander is significantly different from that of those free of the organic. Some possible explanations are discussed.
