An enormous amount of natural gas is trapped in hydrate form in the North Slope of Alaska. Recently, these gas hydrates have been identified as an alternative natural gas resource. This resource, however, is extremely difficult to exploit. Recent studies have mainly focused on steam and/or hot-brine

This paper describes a one-dimensional model for natural gas production from the dissociation of methane hydrate in a confined reservoir by a depressurizing well. The approach accounts for the heat released by hydrate dissociation and convection -conduction heat transfer in the gas and hydrate zone.
