The fine topological relationship between sinus-lining endothelial cells (SLE) and vessel-lining endothelial cells (VLE) at the opening portion of sinusoids into central or interlobular veins of rat liver was studied by a comparison of morphological and functional properties of both types of cells.

The haematogenous phase of cancer metastasis facilitates the transport of metastatic cells within the blood and incorporates a sequence of interactions between circulating intravascular cancer cells and the endothelium of blood vessels at the sites of tumour cell arrest. Initial interactions involve
Epithelial cells both produce and are affected by interleukin-6 (IL-6). Experiments with an adenocarcinoma-derived cell line (HeLa) reveal that activation of the transfected human IL-6 promoter occurs largely through two partially overlapping second messenger (CAMP, phorbol ester)-and cytokine (IL-1
## Abstract We have previously demonstrated that renal cortical collecting duct cells (RCCD~1~), responded to hypotonic stress with a rapid activation of regulatory volume decrease (RVD) mechanisms. This process requires the presence of the water channel AQP2 and calcium influx, opening the questio
## Abstract Epithelial and fibroblast cells from adult rat liver were found to differ markedly in their metabolism of the purine hypoxanthine. Both cell types took up hypoxanthine and possessed hypoxanthineβguanine phosphoribosyl transferase for phosphoribosylating the purine. However, in the trans
