## Abstract The synthesis of 2(2โ€hydroxyโ€5โ€methylphenyl)โ€5โ€vinylโ€2Hโ€benzotriazole was accomplished in seven steps starting from 4โ€ethylaniline. Acetylation and nitration followed by hydrolysis gave 2โ€nitroโ€4โ€cthylaniline which was diazotized, condensed with __p__โ€cresol, and reduced to 2(2โ€hydroxyโ€
