Bamboo is distinguished by its rapid growth, for growth more than 100 cm per day. Because of the rapid growth, tissues have significant ATP requirements, which results in intense reduction of oxygen and thus oxidative stress. For this reason, bamboo may have a special and efficient scavenger system
