✦ Synopsis
A fully relativistic description of the static magnetic hyperfine interaction in magnetic solids is presented. This approach is based on a representation of the underlying electronic structure using the Green's function formalism within the framework of relativistic density functional theory. Results for the hyperfine fields in the magnetic alloy Fe Pd are presented and the
importance of relativistic effects for these are discussed. In addition, first results for the Knight shift of 4d transition metals that have been obtained from a fully relativistic linear response formalism are presented and discussed. ᮊ 1999
