✦ Synopsis

A full-¨ectorial finite-element propagation method, spurious mode free, with off-diagonal elements in the permitti¨ity tensor is presented for the first time. Comparison with experimental data obtained from the alignment of the principal axes in birefringent fibers ¨alidates the method.
