✦ Synopsis

The GreenÕs function method is exploited for a full-vectorial analysis of optical guided propagation in cylindrical geometry across non-magnetic media with a radially varying dielectric function. A fast method for the numerical solution of the propagation equation is developed, allowing the calculation of the modes and of the corresponding propagation constants by solving a matrix eigenvalue equation.
