The papers which comprise this book were delivered in July, 1970, at the Alder Hey Children's Hospital, Liverpool, where a postgraduate course on recent advances in neonatal surgery took place.

Such subjects as recent advances in the surgery of the diaphragm in the newborn, surgery of oesophageal atresia, intestinal obstruction, anorectal abnormalities, renal cystic disease in children, and exstrophy of the bladder are included.

This book demonstrates in no uncertain way the importance of paediatric surgery and that special centres are required to deal with neonatal surgery.

The illustrations are excellent.
