✦ Synopsis

IR spectra of monoisotopic 1,3,5-trideuterobenzene have been measured in the range 400-1000 cm 01 on a FTIR spectrometer at a resolution of about 0.0017 cm 01 . The spectral region under consideration covers the fundamentals n 8 , n 9 , and n 10 , each of symmetry AЉ 2 , and n 16 , of symmetry E. The analysis of these bands was undertaken and yielded a total of approximately 16 300 assigned rovibrational transitions. Ground state parameters and constants for the excited states have been obtained up to fourth order for the first time. Strong perturbations affecting the n 8 and n 9 fundamentals have been identified as caused by an a xy -resonance, with the bands n 18 and n 19 , respectively, being the perturbers. Some preliminary constants for these latter IR-inactive bands are presented for the first time.
