FTA announces $16m funding for US fuel cell bus program projects

T he US Federal Transit Administration is providing more than $16 million in funding for several projects under the National Fuel Cell Bus Program, to coordinate research among fuel cell manufacturers, engineering firms, and transit agencies across the US. The Center for Transportation and the Environment (CTE) in Atlanta, Georgia will receive $6.42 million to fund six projects, while Calstart in Pasadena, California will receive $10.17 million to fund two projects.

The National Fuel Cell Bus Program aims to facilitate the development of commercially viable fuel cell bus technologies, and increase their public acceptance.
