spectroscopic measurements of carbons are briefly reviewed. The new technique of IR photothermal beam deflection Fourier transform spectroscopy (IR-PDS) is outlined and the applications of IR-PDS to carbon materials is described. IR-PDS can be used to examine carbons routinely under the rigorously-c
