Mutagenesis of the facultative anaerobe Zymomonas mobilis was accomplished by three different mutagens. Ultra-violet (UV) irradiation, whose effectiveness relies on misrepair of damaged DNA via an error-prone pathway, was a poor mutagen for this organism. Ethyl methane sulphonate (EMS) gave results
