β¦ Synopsis
In 2000 we initiated a series of biennial special issues of Coordination Chemistry Reviews containing short review articles on aspects of both main group and transition metal organometallic chemistry of current interest. The current special issue is the sixth of this series; the previous such special issues appeared in 2000, 2002, 2004, 2006, and 2008. This issue contains 10 articles, which cover a broad spectrum of organometallic topics including areas of fundamental physical and synthetic organometallic chemistry as well as diverse applications of organometallic chemistry. We hope that the readers of these articles will gain insight as to recent developments in some of the currently important areas of organometallic chemistry as well as some ideas for new research programs.

A series of critical reviews and perspectives focussing on specific aspects of organometallic chemistry interfacing with other fields of study are provided. For this volume, the critical reviews cover topics such as the activation of "inert" carbon-hydrogen bonds, ligand design and organometallic ra
