shortcoming, I suppose, is the fact that the papers are facsimiles of the original reprints. As Takahata asserts, it gives you the opportunity to spot some minor handwritten corrections of Kimura. In my opinion, however, that does not counterbalance the disadvantage of the missing indices and a somewhat messy image. Nonetheless the book contains the major work of a great scientist. It is a pity that too many people are repelled by his outstanding mathematics, because the questions Kimura tried to answer are very often of much biological importance. Hence, I can only recommend this book.
