With this issue, we wish to welcome our readers formally to the new Journal of Interactive Marketing-the successor to the Journal of Direct Marketing. In the last two issues of JDM we discussed both the rationale for the ''repositioning'' as well as what we see as the major intellectual achievements of JDM that the new Journal hopes to build on and that will form the basis for our editorial philosophy in the future. For our new readers (and we hope there are at least a few readers who were attracted by the new title), we briefly summarize the main points here:
