Toto Ltd has invested Yen 150 M in a subsidiary in China, giving it the capacity to produce 150,000 square metres/mo of optical catalyst tiles. The tiles are coated with titanium oxide and other materials which produce activated oxygen when exposed to sunlight. Activated oxygen can break down nitrogen oxide and sulfur oxides in the atmosphere. The firm is aiming for optical catalyst tile sales of Yen 700 M in China in 2004.
