My corner table sits

from back hall to the next

room, looking to the front

another arch provides.

I sit and write, allow

distractions here and there -

a customer's approach,

across the room, the pair

departing, smiles and frowns,

the sway of hips and swish

of skirts, a water splash,

a bit of voice, a lush

of quiet, conversation

and radiio beyond

my sight. This is a place

of watching worlds go by,

the worlds that barely notice.
