Frisk indaga su cosa accade quando la sessualità non si accontenta più di esplorare la superficie di un corpo, e vuole, alla lettera, scoprire cosa c’è dentro. Leggere questo libro è come assistere ad una delle performances artistiche più provocatorie: dalla body art, al punk, fino alle foto di cadaveri di Andres Serrano. Un intero continente di sensibilità artistica del Novecento costeggia i territori delle realtà ultime: il corpo e la morte. E sul mistero dell’immagine fotografica di un corpo (forse) morto si apre e si chiude Frisk. Quando Dennis, il protagonista, ha tredici anni, la sua psiche è segnata dalle foto snuff di un ragazzo che sembra essere mutilato in modo innominabile. Più tardi scoprirà che era ‘solo’ un set, che il ragazzo stava recitando una parte. Ma quelle foto sono il pretesto che serve alla sua mente per fissarsi sul desiderio di aprire il corpo dei suoi amanti, in una sete narcisistica di conoscenza di se stesso. Per permettere a Dennis di non soccombere alla follia, i suoi amici ricostruiranno per lui la finta scena di morte iniziale, liberandolo. Ma questo avviene solo alla fine: per buona parte del libro il lettore non sa se Dennis sogna o se uccide davvero. Ecco perché Frisk inquieta, perché costringe a guardare in faccia quelle fantasie atroci come se fossero vere, nell’ipotesi che anche la nostra mente, così normale, non sia poi tanto lontana dal concepirle.
