PROFESSOR Frigyes Cs~ki, Head of the Chair of Automation at the Budapest Technical University and Vice President of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, died in August 1977. He was 56 years old.
Professor Cshki was a leading personality in the Hungarian Science and Higher Education. In the last two decades, his professional interests centered around control theory. He published more than 200 papers and several textbooks, the latter on industrial electronics, power electronics, automation, control systems, modern control theory, the state space method and digital systems. His books not only served as the basic texts for the Hungarian universities but a number of them have been translated to several languages including English and are found in all the major libraries of the world.
Many of Professor Cs~iki's papers were presented at different IFAC conferences. For a while, he served on the IFAC Technical Committee on Theory. Due to his high international reputation, he was invited to the International Program Committee of a number of IFAC Symposia, last time the Tbilisi Symposium on Identification.
