J’ai découvert Nietzsche chez les Jésuites à Avignon au printemps 1976. Je me rappelle la sensation de tremblement éprouvée à la lecture de quelques pages de « Par-delà bien et mal » et cette impression que ce livre s’adressait à moi en particulier. Je marchais dans la cour du lycée, j’avais 17 ans et me croyais marxiste. J’étais ébranlé dans mes certitudes qui m’apparurent soudain comme autant de fictions. Je ne pense pas avoir compris les implications d’une pensée aussi radicale mais je savais que l’idée que je me faisais de la vie ne serait plus tout à fait la même. Je ne suis pas nietzschéen mais je suis reconnaissant à Nietzsche de m’avoir fait gagner du temps. Quelques semaines seulement après avoir découvert ce livre, je quittai le Mouvement des Jeunesses Communistes auquel j’appartenais depuis l’âge de 15 ans. Paul François Paoli
