โฆ Synopsis
Free vibration characteristics of longitudinally sti!ened square panels with symmetrical square cutouts are investigated by using the "nite-element method. A rectangular shell element with seven degrees of freedom per node together with a beam element of seven degrees of freedom per node is used for the analysis. Studies are carried out on unsti!ened as well as sti!ened panels keeping the size, weight and boundary conditions the same. Numerical results indicate that the frequency of the sti!ened panel is higher. Maximum increase in fundamental frequency is observed on the panel with the smallest radius of curvature.

Randomness in the material properties is inherent in all engineering materials. Composites exhibit a greater scatter compared to conventional materials because of the larger number of parameters associated with its fabrication and manufacturing. For accurate prediction of its behavior, the composite
