✦ Synopsis

A general procedure is presented for calculating the free vibration of one-and two-dimensional problems of elastic systems by using the spline-integral method. This method combines the cubic spline function with the Green function of the beam in the integral equations. Cubic splines are used to describe the mode shape function and to satisfy the continuity and boundary conditions in conjunction with the Green function. Simply supported and clamped edge conditions are considered in the analysis of beam and plate problems. The natural frequencies of beams, rectangular and skew plates with different skew angles are calculated and compared with other methods.
