This paper contributes to the basic fundamental problem of vibration of elastic homogeneous isotropic beam with general boundary conditions traversed by moving loads. Closed-form solutions for the response of beams subjected to a single deterministic moving force are obtained. The moving force is as

β¦ Synopsis
The transverse vibrations of a string between two supports which are moving towards each other, each with a constant velocity v, are considered. The method of separation of variables cannot be applied to this problem. Therefore a method of distorted images is introduced. The initial conditions are extended over the full interval of dependence and the problem is solved by using the D'Alembert solution. A closed form algorithm which evaluates the dynamics of the string is given.
