β¦ Synopsis
The mean square end-to-end distance (r2)of of several families of polyesters and polyamides in the unperturbed freely rotating state has been calculated. The free rotation dimensions [(r2)of/N] t/2 and [(r2)of/M] 1/2, where N is the total number of bonds in the chain and M is the chain molecular weight, have been calculated as a function of the number of methylene units for hydroxy-carboxylic acid polyesters, amino-carboxylic acid polyamides, glycol-dicarboxylic acid polyesters, diamino-dicarboxylic acid polyamides, aromatic polyesters and polyamides. Calculations have also been made for Ekanol, Kevlar and poly (p-benzamide).
