The free-radical polymerization of styrene has been studied in the homogeneous phase of supercritical (sc) CO 2 at 80 8C and pressures between 200 and 1 500 bar. 2,29-Azobisisobutyronitrile is used as initiator and CBr 4 as chain-transfer agent. The polymerization is monitored by means of online FT-

β¦ Synopsis
Free radical dispersion polymerization of styrene in a mixture of 2-propanol and tetrahydrofuran was carried out at 70Β°C up to high conversions. The influence of the change of the critical chain length on the evolution of the insoluble polymer component was examined. Monomer conversion and the formation of the insoluble polymer component were measured in order to test a mathematical model presented in our previous article. The critical polymer chain length i 0 , the initiation rate constant k d , and the ratio k p /k t 1/ 2 , where k p and k t are propagation and termination rate constants, respectively, have been obtained and compared with those reported in the literature.

## Abstract The bulk freeβradical polymerization of styrene was carried out on a spinning disc reactor (SDR) with prepolymer feeds previously prepared in a stirred batch reactor at 70Β°C. The SDR significantly enhanced the reaction rate when the conversion of the prepolymer feed was about 50%. There
A new method is presented for modeling and controlling polymer molecular weight distribution (MWD) and tensile strength in a batch suspension polymerization of styrene. The molecular weight distribution is modeled by computing the weight fraction of the polymer in different chain length intervals. T
This article describes the copolymerization of styrene-butylmethacrylate (St-BMA) and the homopolymerization of styrene (St) in a counterrotating twin screw extruder. The effect of prepolymerization on both the product properties and process was studied. It turned out that the process of reactive ex
