## Abstract ## Background. The radial forearm flap is frequently considered the first choice for tongue reconstruction, but the disadvantages of donor site morbidity are well known. The search for another thin skin flap as an alternative has led to the application of the medial sural artery perfor

Abstract
In this report, we present a case with floor of mouth squamous cell carcinoma who underwent wide excision of tumor, a marginal mandibulectomy and bilateral selective neck dissections. A 7 cm Γ 4 cm fasciocutaneous flap based on a posterior tibial artery perforator (PTAP) from the left posterior leg was harvested to reconstruct a floor of the mouth defect. The donorβsite defect was closed primarily. The flap survived in its entirety. No donor or recipient site complications occurred. The patient tolerated a regular diet at 3βmonth followβup with normal speech and leg function. To our knowledge, there has been no previous report on the use of the PTAP flap for floor of mouth reconstruction. Our experience has shown the PTAP flap could be one of options for small defects. Anatomy of cutaneous perforators of the posterior tibial artery were studied in 20 limbs of 10 cadavers. The majority of the perforators (n = 74, 61%) were located in the middle two quarters of the leg, at an average of 18.6 cm (s.d. 4.5 cm; range 10.5-26 cm) from the medial malleolus, or around 54%
Progressive hemifacial atrophy (PHA) is characterized by slow and progressive atrophy usually of one side of the face. PHA affects primarily the subcutaneous fat and muscle tissues, but may involve the bone. The cause is unknown. The treatment is symptomatic and directed at augmentation of the defic
