✦ Synopsis

Abstract

Using electromagnetic flowmetry, the circulation through free flaps was studied in an experimental animal model. It was demonstrated that the total circulation of blood through a free flap is not affected by the establishment of an arterial through‐flow or end‐flow model in the recipient bed.

The aim of this study was to apply the hypothesis of ischemic preconditioning (IP) on free skeletal muscle (rat thigh flap). Five groups of Sprague-Dawley rats (n = 6) were used. In group A (control group), standard free autologous flap transfers were performed. Flaps in groups B and C underwent 4 a

## Abstract In this article we report on the anatomical, experimental, and clinical investigations of the distally adipofascial pedicled radial forearm flap based on the small perforators around the radial styloid process. There are about 10 small perforators (0.3–0.5 mm in diameter) from the dista

## Abstract Early diagnosis of postoperative perfusion failure is essential in microsurgical tissue transfer. In order to determine if microdialysis could be used in diagnosing flap ischemia, we tested this method in an experimental pig model. Sixty‐six flaps (34 myocutaneous and 29 cutaneous) were
