this system. APC says that the InfraStruXure with Integrated Fuel Cells is best suited for environments that may have limitations because of building code, emission requirements or physical constraints.
'APC is constantly developing innovative systems to dramatically increase availability in all aspects of the network-critical physical infrastructure,' comments Dwight Sperry, APC's VP of enterprise systems & business networks. 'APC's InfraStruXure with Integrated Fuel Cells system offers the first practical fuel cell solution for data center extended-run applications.'
Last fall Hydrogenics announced that it had received a follow-on order for 25 of its 10 kWe HyPM™ XR fuel cell modules to be incorporated into backup power products from a single OEM customer, now revealed to be APC [FCB, January 2005]. The company has delivered the first five units of the order -its largest commercial order so far for fuel cell products -and expects the remainder of the units to be delivered through 2005.
'This innovative offering integrates Hydrogenics' fuel cell power modules in critical power applications that require reliable, extended run capabilities,' says president/CEO Pierre Rivard. 'Our job is to provide fuel-cell based power products consistent with APC's standing and the needs of APC's customers.
