Abstract
The debate about faculty roles is addressed by questioning the debate itself. The author suggests a way to change the public conversation about faculty by changing the descriptions of what faculty do and the research approach to studying it. She argues that a holistic perspective on faculty is necessary as a starting point for policyβrelevant research.
