✦ Synopsis

A fractal approach was adopted to describe the behaviour of the pressure fluctuations in a bubble column. The values of the so-called Hurst exponent computed from the resealed range analysis were used to distinguish between the basic hydrodynamic regimes . The experimental data were compared with the simulated sequences of the fractional Brownian motion .

## Abstract The average large gas bubble size in slurry bubble columns is estimated using a spectral analysis method applied to measured pressure time series. A pressure time series measured in a bubble column consists of local pressure fluctuations and global pressure fluctuations. The local press

## Abstract Bubble disengagement after stopping the gas supply is analyzed based on the concept of constant slip velocity; it is compared with the approaches used by previous investigators. The technique has been applied to study the gas density effect (0.17 to 46.6 kg·m^—3^) on the gas hold‐up str
