✦ Synopsis
The rotational spectral lines of CS(X 1 R þ ) and SO(b 1 R þ ) in the highly excited vibrational states have been observed with the Fourier transform millimeter-wave spectrometer in combination with a pulsed discharge nozzle. The
are detected for several vibrational states. These measurements lead to a precise determination of the Dunham coefficients. In addition to the normal species, the spectral lines of their isotopomers have also been observed. The hyperfine interaction constants of 13 CS and C 33 S are determined in each excited vibrational state. The present measurements indicate that the pulsed discharge nozzle system can produce a molecule in highly excited vibrational states as well as in the metastable electronic states.
