✦ Synopsis
The signal scattered by objects in translational motion is evaluated. The incident wave is a time harmonic plane wave. The scattered fields are expressed in terms of the precursor position of the scatterer. To determine the Doppler shfft experienced by a stationary observer, the Fourier spectrum of the received signal is calculated. The spectrum turns out to be band ümited and to evidence two (infinite) peaks.
