✦ Synopsis
Chapter 8. "Occurrence of Mesons in Cosmic Radiation." This chapter is written, to some extent, independently of considerations discussed in earlier chapters, and welds the properties of mesons into the general scheme of the cosmic radiation as a whole. There is a discussion of such matters as meson intensity at sea level, the positive excess, the energy spectrum of mesons, meteorological effects, zenith angle dependence, geomagnetic effects, the occurrence of mesons below ground. There is a further discussion of many of these matters for high altitude observations.
